What is an MFT?
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
But don't let the title fool you...

I am trained not only in providing therapy to couples and families but also to individuals and all types of relationships you encounter in your life, from friendships to co-workers too!
What makes an MFT unique compared to other psychotherapists?
We use a systems perspective - this means that when we explore with you, we will take into account the impact of past and present relationships and experiences to help you move forward.
A major component in the Masters Degree program for Marriage and Family Therapy requires therapists to work to increase their own self-awareness, both inside and outside the therapy room. This makes us more aware of our blind-spots and potential biases which allows us to provide better services to the people we work with.
Marriage and Family Therapists are trained to help both individuals and families - not all types of psychotherapists can offer help to families.
Psychotherapy services are covered under some extended health care plans. But, if your plan does not cover MFT sessions but does cover another type of mental health care practitioner, it may still be less expensive for you to forgo your coverage and see an MFT if you will be needing multiple sessions.

The reason for this is that after you have used your limited sessions covered under your plan, you are responsible for paying the set rates of your practitioner going forward. MFT fees are often lower than other mental health care practitioners so this can potentially save you money in the long run but without compromising the quality of care.
Is an MFT right for you?
It can be confusing...what type of mental health care practitioner should you see? A Marriage and Family Therapist, a Psychologist, a Psychiatrist, a Social Worker...?
I can help you figure it out!

This will determine if we are a good fit.

If an MFT is not the best option, I will help you find someone that is a good fit for your needs.

I offer this complementary service because I want to be a resource for you so you can find the help that you need, whether it be from me, an MFT, or another type of practitioner.
